Name
Rural in Kentucky: A Conversation and Dialogue On Rural Students in Higher Education
Date & Time
Wednesday, March 17, 2021, 1:55 PM - 2:25 PM
Description

In Kentucky, an overwhelming majority of counties are designated as "Rural". Yet many institutions do not always consider the unique situations that rural prospective students find themselves in, nor do they always know how to best recruit them. In this presentation, we will review what prior research as well as personal experiences have told us about rural students and how colleges can best connect with and provide support for the rural population. We will then have an open discussion on what the college side can do to support rural high schools and their students, and what high school counselors from rural areas can do to better connect with their college counterparts.

Presenter: Kevin Buckley, University of Louisville
