Name
Awarding Credit for Prior Learning Assessment – A Recruitment Tool
Date & Time
Thursday, March 18, 2021, 10:40 AM - 11:20 AM
Description

This session will present a case study on how a technical college in Wisconsin blazed new trails by offering college credit for core courses using prior learning assessment (PLA) – credits typically reserved for electives. Awarding PLA credit beyond electives has yielded unforeseen results for individuals and the institution.

This session will explore the use of a process known as curriculum profiling to evaluate how ACT® WorkKeys® Assessments correlate to current core English and math courses, enabling educators to recognize the benefits of awarding credit to students who have proof of demonstrated skills. This incentivizes students to finish their programs more and do so more quickly.

Presenter: Connie Valentine, ACT, Inc.
